A very rich book that takes you to unfamiliar places with unexpected series of events. It will succeed in grabbing your full attention from the beginning until the end of the book. I enjoyed reading the book very much.I would've given it 5 stars if not for the open end, details are amazing as the author is venturing into a whole new geographical and historical period, was a really a page turner, finished it in less than a week...
Brilliant story telling!!! The way he carries the story, and jumps from one to the next is addictive. I hated the abrupt end, but still I enjoyed the book to the most! I can't wait to read another novel for the author, he's very capable of pinning you down to his work.

At the beginning, honestly I was not very approving of the excessive sexuality. And out of sincere truth I am not a fan of Arabian novels but Mr Qendeel gave me a whole different idea and perspective. He wrote in such a marvelous way that attracts till the end, also with an ending that leaves you with many questions... Open ending.Beside the fact of using the flashbacks to tell stories and intertwining many stories in between. In addition, he supported a lot of parts with actual geography and
The story is, or more accurately the stories are, captivating, mainly because of how descriptive the narration is. However, there is no message or even a united story. Just small problems and mysteries left unsolved.
It was truly on the best novels I've read during during 2013.I loved the writer's way of expressing the feelings of both "Ali" and "Nour Allah", how he described Samarkand, and even the historical facts throughout the whole novel. If you like reading about different cultures mixed with different human experiences...then this novel is definitely for you.Cheers!
takes you to another world , another time... but needed to focus on some important characters.but still when i put my hand on it , i can't leave it
